2019 – “Players with dreams coupled with hard work will become players with vision”

In 2018, Next Gen Rugby Coaching was under the new ownership of Michael Broad. Michael took over from Dan McKellar who lead the company with distinction and diligence since 2013. Next Gen Rugby Coaching would like to thank all players, parents, clubs and schools who have supported the work of our professional staff in delivering a rugby product that has been so positively reinforced.

To kick off 2019, Next Gen Rugby Coaching will hold its annual Preseason Clinic in February at Riverside Rugby Club on consecutive Sundays (Feb 17 and 24). More information regarding this clinic will be sent to all our clients as well as being advertised on the web site.

Next Gen Rugby Coaching will hold its annual Easter coaching clinic out of the wonderful facilities at Marist College Ashgrove – along with its second clinic during the Easter holiday break at Wynnum Bugs Rugby Club. Last year the patronage at the Easter clinics was outstanding and the feedback positive from both players and parents.

In 2019, Next Gen Rugby will again be heavily involved in school rugby programs – notably at Marist College Ashgrove, Gregory Terrace, Anglican Church Grammar School, St. Peter’s College and Iona College. Next Gen’s involvement revolved around formulating a structured training program and working with the coaching staff and players at the various schools. As well, position specific specialist coaching proved extremely beneficial. All these schools have again engaged the professional coaching staff at Next Gen Rugby Coaching to provide informative and most importantly enjoyable experiences for all participants in 2019.

Next Gen Rugby Coaching will hold its only clinic for the July holidays at Anglican Church Grammar School on July 1, 2 & 3. In 2018 we had 174 players attend this clinic and the outcomes and vibe at the clinic was extraordinary. September 25, 26 & 27 will be the final coaching clinic for the year and will again be held at Riverside Rugby Club.

Junior grade teams from Brisbane clubs Wests, Kenmore Bears and Riverside, who utilised the Next Gen Rugby services in 2018 for the development of the coaches and players have again engaged Next Gen Rugby Coaching to assist with their rugby programs. These sessions provided the club coaches with an opportunity to nominate the areas of development that they felt their players needed more expert tuition. It was also a chance to up skill both the coaches and players in a challenging environment. A very positive and successful role for the company in 2018 was running Grading and Selection preseason sessions for the above mentioned junior clubs.

One of the most enjoyable and rewarding services that Next Gen Rugby Coaching offers is the One on One specialist coaching. Players of all ages and ability levels have taken the opportunity to avail themselves to the quality coaching that the company offers. Some players have joined forces to provide an even more challenging training environment by having 2/3 players working together. It is obvious that the parents of these children are convinced of the benefits of allowing their children to work with our team which is passionate about passing on our many years of experience and knowledge at the grassroots level as well as the elite level. The young players using the 1 on 1 sessions, start to develop skills and training habits at a young age that we feel are crucial in their rugby formation. In 2018 it was terrific to be able to assist Touch Football players with their running, agility, evasion and passing skills – already this area of coaching is expanding rapidly.
