St. Patrick’s College have engaged Next Gen Rugby Coaching for the last 2 years (2024 & 2025) to deliver their “Confidence in Contact” program to our A/B rugby players across Years 5 - 10 during the Term 1 preseason.

The quality and expertise shown by the coaching staff was exactly what the College was looking for in order to prepare the players for the collisions in the game and to make them Rugby Ready. The 2 key areas that were targeted was Tackle Technique and the Breakdown. At the end of 2024, the College also engaged Michael Broad and his coaches to work on some simple patterns of play and game management through Invasion Games and match like simulations. Again I couldn’t have been more impressed with the program that was delivered.

Michael Broad and his team from Next Gen Rugby Coaching have ben engaged by Toowoomba Grammar School for the last 5 years to run their outstanding “Confidence in Contact” program across our secondary school rugby teams from U13 to Open at the C, D and E level.

This program is critical in ensuring that all TGS rugby players are “Rugby Ready” for trials - especially in the area of the collisions in the game. The key areas targeted were Set Piece (Scrum & Lineout); Tackle Technique and Breakdown.

It has been a very important part of the TGS rugby program in that the players outside the A/B program, are provided with the highest quality coaching and instruction from some of the best rugby educators within SE Queensland.
